Osheen Harruthoonyan, M’Liz Keefe, and Jim Reid
La Vue

March 8 – March 31, 2020

Inspired by the auras of the atmosphere, La Vue aims to engage the viewer with the ambiance of vast vistas. Photographer Osheen Harruthoonyan uses experimental wet darkroom techniques to create his images. From this process the images unveil a range of sharp black shadows, velvety tones of grey, and smooth hues of white. From Fogo Island, Newfoundland, M’Liz Keefe’s seascapes are equally entrancing and mysterious. The artist’s use of oil paint and beeswax creates an alluring texture over the violent waves – the images oscillate between peace and violence, the ever-changing mood of the ocean. Painting en plein air, Jim Reid captures the textures of forests, beaches, and marshes. By layering thick applications of acrylic paint, the canvases almost come to life – the tactile nature of the forest radiates from the pictorial plane.
