Cologne artist Willy Fick created symbolic paintings during the darkest times of Hitler’s regime — works that gave voice to feelings the Nazis wished suppressed. Incredibly, in spite of the Nazis, fire and bombing, archival photographs and several original works remain as witness, provoking thought and dialogue about the role art plays in society.

Contemporary responses by Holocaust survivors and student artists, diverse in age and culture, are included as signage and original art.
