Strong women expressing their artistic vision on large canvases, inspiring viewers through colour, image, and intuitive feel. Sheila Gregory’s bold and colourful abstracts, Sasha Roger’s subdued and thought provoking horizons and Pedie Wolfond’s radiantly saturated canvases of layered paint are on exhibition now.
Gregory’s imagery is drawn from her experiences with archaeological teams in the Canadian north as well as from contemporary urban life. Rogers, whose work explores the complexity of light, space and relationships of difference, holds a Masters of visual arts in painting from the University of Alberta. Identified as a colour field painter and mentored by New York critic Clement Greenberg, Wolfond’s work has been influenced by travel and spirituality.
