January 17th, 2014 will mark the reopening of the Delaware Art Museum’s updated contemporary wing, which will feature the work of Lonsdale Gallery’s exceptional sculptor Keith W. Bentley. Now a part of the Museum’s permanent collection, Bentley’s Cauda Equina stands an impressive 63 inches tall, 76 inches long and 24 inches wide. Each of the 1.4 million hand knotted horse hairs were affixed to a fabric covered taxidermy mannequin over the course of twelve years, between 1995–2007. Bentley’s sculpture keeps company with works by other notable sculptors such as George Segal. Congratulations Keith, on this major achievement!
