Lonsdale Gallery is pleased to announce the launch of INCUBATOR, a new programming initiative devoted to the promotion of fresh provocative creative practices and emerging artists.
INCUBATOR is a dedicated professional exhibition space, located in the Project Room, on the second floor of Lonsdale Gallery. It is designed as a space to engage with experimental works and incite dialogue surrounding innovative artistic and curatorial practices. The space seeks to foster new and exciting local talent that have vision and unique perspective.
The artistic program champions work by exceptional up-and-coming artists, engages diverse audiences, by presenting creative projects that explore critical and conceptual ideas. The curatorial program takes risks. Featured artists will generate bold ideas and make meaningful connections with visitors and the community.
This initiative aims to foster support and advocate for local fresh artists by designating a space within the gallery to showcase their work within the Toronto art scene. Lonsdale Gallery, with its 25 year professional reputation and longevity in the city is uniquely positioned to be able to provide guidance and mentorship to participating artists embarking on the next critical phase of their careers.
Witnessing the devastating impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic has had on the artworld at-large, and especially local and emerging artists, we wanted to step up and carve out a space within the gallery for showcasing some of the next generation of exceptional artists working in the City. We are very excited to about this new artistic programme because it allows us to share our passion and excitement for the creative process with audiences and collectors in a fresh new way.
